Do You hear There – Posts

Reunion

Hi all,

I thoroughly enjoyed the reunion, caught up with quite a few people and missed seeing some that I would have liked to catch up with.

I looked at the memorial and am glad now that I am a part of the history of JRTE and the Navy in general.

I look forward to seeing you all at the next 50 year reunioin…

Cheers

Stan

It is with deep regret, and sadness, that The HMAS BRISBANE Association advises of the passing of a shipmate and friend.

R93323 Leading Seaman Barry Robert Mallett,64, passed away in Evans Head, NSW on 3rd February, 2010.

Welcome Paul Bownas

Dear Pony,
I am delighted to be able to contact someone from Leeuwin who was there in ’61.   I was in Mokare Division and some of the names I can remember are:  “Pincher” Martin, “Dobber” O’Brien, “Butch” Buchanan, “Sprog” Sporer, “Greasy” Kox, Clive Wilson, Charlie Back,
David Tibbitts, Max Hasson, Barry Cross, and, although I can’t remember his correct name, no-one in the 3rd. intake will ever forget “Tarzan”, particularly during the boxing! Some  of the staff I remember were CPOs Utting, Darby Munro, and who could ever forget the very delightful Wally Owen?

I would particularly like to hear from Dave “Dobber” O’Brien and Clive Wilson, but would be happy to hear from anyone who might remember me?
best wishes,
Paul “Bones” Bownas

Thanks Pony,

Cheers Pony, thanks for sorting out my password problem,I’m a novice at this sort thing so I hope I have got it right. It has been great to read through the comments and with the aid of the Third Passing Out Parade book put a young face to the names,i’m sure that I will be the only one who hasn’t aged,I last seen Robert Hall at a Legacy Conference at Gosford in the mid nineties and yes mate I am still active in Legacy at Berrima Division NSW.I still keep in touch with a few of our mob,Graham(Squizzy)Taylor has been crook with bowel cancer and is on the mend so hopefully he can make to the re-union,that reminds me,the Doctor at Leeuwin said to me,how are your bowels?,I haven’t been issued them yet Sir,I said, the Doc said no I mean have you passed any shit lately,I replied only a Subbie and two Midshipmen. As far as the Ship’s motto goes,I Shall Maintain, the only thing I have been able to maintain is a taste for beer. All the best you blokes.
