New Photo Album Routine

Fantastic photos Barry – even the “Archerfish”. Beautiful photo of the whaler under sail on the Swan – I think Winjan must have been “special”.

The routine for uploading photos has changed as it has proven to be difficult to achieve. All you have to do now is to go to your Dashboard, click on the Star beside Upload/Insert. In the next dialog box click Select files – go to the directory on you hard drive, select the photo, click Open then Click Save Changes. close the screen by Clicking on the X at the top right hand side.
email me after you have uploaded and I willl add them to the gallery. Enjoy!

Derek Hasel remembers the good times rowing and sailing on the Swan. I agree it was fun but it was HARD WORK!

Having had a daughter as an Australian International rower the crew above are really crook! The man in the bow has “caught a crab” where he has dug the oar in at such an angle that it wouldn’t come out of the water! But no one told us these things did they?

Welcome 3rd. Intake Leeuwin Junior Recruits

July 1961 saw 150 of us, the cream of Australia’s youth (that’s what they told us) make that momentous journey across the country to begin twelve months Junior Recruit training at HMAS Leeuwin on the banks of the Swan River near Perth Western Australia. We were only aged between fifteen and  sixteen and a half but men of the world.

Most of us had no idea of what we were getting  into but at least we had a job and our medical and dental was taken care of, that made the folks happy. However my experience with the dentist at Leeuwin scarred me life. There are many reminiscences that can be told and my hope is that they may appear on these pages.

Please remember to be cautious in what you post as it will be readable by all. No profanities please.

Who am I? Allan “Pony” Moore, the FAT kid in Winjan who went on to become a Phot spending the 12 year enlistment in the Photographic Branch paying off as POPHOT. Promotion in the branch was non-existent with only one CPOPHOT. It took another 8 years before the next Chief was promoted. Forty seven years later I am still involved with photography but in an educational role.
