Some dirty little critter had hacked the Leeuwin3rd site which would have taken you (hijacked) to other sites that you didn’t want to go to! Hopefully it is OK now. I still have to restore the page image.

Welcome Paul Bownas
Dear Pony,
I am delighted to be able to contact someone from Leeuwin who was there in ’61. I was in Mokare Division and some of the names I can remember are: “Pincher” Martin, “Dobber” O’Brien, “Butch” Buchanan, “Sprog” Sporer, “Greasy” Kox, Clive Wilson, Charlie Back,
David Tibbitts, Max Hasson, Barry Cross, and, although I can’t remember his correct name, no-one in the 3rd. intake will ever forget “Tarzan”, particularly during the boxing! Some of the staff I remember were CPOs Utting, Darby Munro, and who could ever forget the very delightful Wally Owen?
I would particularly like to hear from Dave “Dobber” O’Brien and Clive Wilson, but would be happy to hear from anyone who might remember me?
best wishes,
Paul “Bones” Bownas
Digitized Memories
9 minutes 42 seconds that where you will relive you time at Leeuwin. Unfortunately this movie was made in the late 60’s (brick blocks) but is worth a look:

Phot Rate RIP!
From October 1 2009 Navy Phots no longer will exist. While retaining the camera badge they will become an IS (Image Specialist) reflecting changing roles with an emphasis on intell work. Quite sad actually but the Phot. Branch has had many sponsors over the years. After leeuwin we were in the seaman world (scary) for 6 months and did our seatime on the Quickmatch before returning to Albatross as “Birdies”.
Welcome Les Horrobin!
Welcome aboard Les – no excuse for not posting! Farmer (Pony)
Oops, you had already posted! Please send me a LARGER image (800 x 600 pixels) and I will create the Kaiber page
